Tioman - snapshots

One of these guys was so taken by a made up story on the medicinal value of a plant that he took one and start chewing (luckily it was not poisonous or anything)... it was difficult trying to hold a straight face that we burst out laughing. Can you guess which one ?

The island's standard mode of transport.

The little princesses enjoying (???) the boat ride in choppy seas.

The heroes, its all about them really.

We had and island wide blackout...

... and heavy rains but...

... great food, good company and...

... an excellent host, made it a fun and worthwhile trip. Puan Rozita of Nazeri's place in Kampung Air Batang, highly recommended.

Finally, our organiser, most probably imagining himself to be "Duyung". More "Dugong" don't you think ? He he he...

Vista.

Not 'that' vista, but the real deal. A beautiful morning by the beach in Kuantan. The cool air is still and the waves laps the beach lazily letting the water play hide and seek with reflections of the glorious sunrise on the pristine and shiny sands. For me this is the stuff that feeds the soul. Just the stuff to remind me to take stock and re-examine my perspectives in life.

The photo above is of my son perhaps examining his life's perspective. Well, maybe not, he's just looking at seashells and hermit crabs. It really warms me up that he is willing to wake up at dawn and follow me on my trek to the beach. It was fun.

Beaches.

Both of these pictures were taken in Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi. Pristine white beaches, excellent views but I hated the mud beyond the sand.

The first time I saw someone reading in the water. She was totally engrossed. Either the book is an un-put-downable masterpiece or its a waterproof copy. Either way, she was rooted at the spot from the time I first saw her until I leave about half an hour later. This was on one of the beaches of Pulau Pangkor, can't remember which beach.

Laksa by the beach.

Everything taste better taken by the sea. Laksa and ayaq nyiok... heavenly. There's a whole egg in the laksa too.

COW..... BEACH....

Complete public access to beaches including cows. These were taken on the way to Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi. The heifers look like they were really enjoying the easy life by the sea. Just relax, no bills to be dealt with later....

Wet beaches.

The rainy season is truly upon us with news of flooding down south. Some acquintances and relatives were affected. My heart goes out to them. Especially the children and their damaged new school uniforms. Hang tough guys.
When we were in Kuantan last weekend, we were not spared. Luckily only intermittent rain and not a real downpour that could lead to flooding. The air became still, the skies open up and the beach got deserted.

Windy days.

Hmmmm, got too close to the trees....
