Night Ride

I so wanted to go into a proper MTB route, but the reminder of bears and wild boars made us change the route. We ended up doing the horse riding trail with patches of loose sands providing the challenge in the dark. 43.4 km loop. Start at 2000 hrs. and end at 2330 hrs. with rounds of cool drinks by the sea.

Gunung Nuang

Some friendlies from Gunung Nuang. A place to go for a peaceful trek, sweat and switch off. Swarms of insects, butterflies, moths, bees and many more. Just wear comfy shoes and bring enough water unless you are game for the cool waters of the mountain stream.

From the car park, where you are required to register and pay a RM1 fee to the first waterfall area would be about 2 hours [my pace - you might be faster], from there the trail turns to single track water ruts made up of rocky and knobbly roots. It'll be another 4 hours perhaps to reach the peak. For those going for the first time it is advisable to go with someone who is familiar with the place.

Organised by Astro Ceria. It was an excellent event as far as I am concerned mainly because I get to be home by about 10am, well before the sun goes into its baking mode. The kids enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you Astro.

Bikers; BEACH.

Got these shots on the beach at Kuantan. Photographically its pretty exciting as these are my first ever action shot with the D200. The second one capturing blurry movement is my favourite.

Socially, these guys are idiots acting irresponsibly. It was a weekend, beaches in front of resorts are teeming with people, mostly kids playing on the sand. I am a biker too and I do understand their need to enjoy their machine but come on, at least slow down when passing heavily populated areas of the beach. Imagine if a kid is knocked down. What then, apologise profusely to the parents ? Imagine further if its some foreign kid - god forbid an American or a Brit - good job at tarnishing Malaysia's image. Real idiots, notice in the second photo he's looking at the sky ? Imagine the gall of it, going full speed with kids around and taking the time to look at kites.

Kite boarding.

This looks like an interesting activity which I saw on the beach in Kuantan. Its a combination of surfing and gliding, well hanging on to a big kite actually. Ten or fifteen years ago I might have given it a shot but where I am now, its just too much of a risk. Being out on open waters on a piece of wood hanging on to a kite does not really appeal to me. I am used to being on a big ship if I need to be out at sea. It looks like fun though.
